Don’t forget BOARD MEETING  Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 8 am - Police Station.

The Glavin Center party was a joyous sharing thanks to many Rotarians and our
Doris Walsh who made sure, with Sharon Brown,  that there gifts for everyone...even
Joshua, the Doyle’s grandson who was visiting with them.  And in keeping with the
expression,  “a gift given comes back in spades?”  In this case in jokers “cause Doris
generously shared one of her raffle tickets which didn’t win...but Doris’ ticket did...and
yes, she got the joker and the pot.   Keep giving...see what happens !

Giving, prompted Pat Doyle to remind us of the difference we make in our donations to
the Foundation which provides, among other things, matching grants.  A good example  is
the gift our club gave to St Bernard Rotary Club for the Parish school and the letter of
thanks we received, read by President Mark Leahy.

                                                1 year. . . . . . . .Mark Lessner
Taking in all of this information was a potential new member, Will Oliveira, who also
listened to our guest speaker, Rotarian  Mark Niederpruem from the Shriner’s Hospital for
Children in Springfield.   There,  children and young people, ages birth to 21 years, are
treated for severe problems of muscles, bones and/or joints.  Amazingly, due to continuing
endowments, there is no cost for these healing services for the families.  There isn’t even a
billing office !   The photographs alone were a testament to the incredible work being done
thanks to the Shrine Hospitals.  Lending to the success of the efforts by the Doctors is a
motion analysis laboratory which helps to measure before and after effects.  Also in house
is tele-medicine to assess if treatment is possible.    Oh, and the can pull tops...great PR
and awareness for the hospitals and  helps to pay for equipment.

So keep pulling !  And while we may be tied up in the getting the giving these holiday
seasons remember that  stressed spelled backwards is  desserts...so stop every now and
then and have a piece of cake...even better...share it. !
