Whoops ! Here it is, time to get ready for Rotary lunch at West Side Grill. Our guest
speaker will be Dick Vaughan, President of the Sturbridge Club. He will be sharing his
adventures from his radio career. Be here, tune in.
Last week, as you know, if you were there, we were informed about the
Home Safety Network which is based on a structured program
called Safe Homes, which has networks throughout the country based on the premise that
parents are the best protection young people have against drug/alcohol abuse. Members
of the Home Safety Network agree to: supervise all parties in their home;not serve
alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 and not allow any illegal drugs in their home or on
their property. Members names are listed in a directory and all are encouraged to call for
knowledge or with knowledge about a teen party before giving their own children
permission to attend. Ann Taggert; Judy Wilchynski, Bruce Tretter and Adam Winter, the presenters,
did a fine job and the presentation created a lot of discussion. More information is
available on www.HomesafetyNetwork.org .
October 31st will be a vocational speaker lunch. The Sunday preceding, the 29th will be
Renee McCue-Halls birthday.
If you haven’t marked your calenders/ palm pilots/ whatever...do so now. November 8 at
6:30 at Double Tree Inn is the Foundation Forum. This will take the place of our
luncheon meeting on the 7th. We pay 15...club pays 10...we get points. One thing to do
on the 7th, however, if vote. It is a privilege not to be wasted.
The Spelling BEE is gathering teams and sponsors for November 17th, and believe it or
not it will soon be time to prepare for the Glavin Center Christmas party on Dec. 11.
Have I done this one ? Happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t
have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.
Thank you, Frederick Koening
