Ah ! When you are talking with Ed King about Rotary you are in the zone ! Ed is one of
our “Mr. Rotary”’s. He is a Past District Governor, PDG, and as such built a library
of Rotary, and our District, knowledge. As Ed said, one may serve once as a District
Governor but one is then a continuing resource to others doing one’s best to train and
represent you.And that is when one is “in the zone”. Ed was recently at the Zone Institute
for the Governor Elect Training Sessions which impart current Rotary knowledge to the
Governors. There are 528. Hopefully each develops a passion for Rotary projects...in
each district and the world and for us to support each one...make them our own.
Actually Ed was off the map in Hershey, Pennsylvania as there actually is no Hershey, PA.
Go figure! There is a Post Office Box but it is Derry Township. Talk about a zone !
It was appropriate to have our Bandey-Heffler visitors as guests here during their swap
from England. Merle and Ken Ball from Southhampton stayed with the Owocs and
Martin and Susan Bryant from Hart, I think. They were with the Mottle’s. The Doyle’s
had the beds made but their guests were unable to make the trip.
This Tuesday, October 10th, our District Governor, Suzanne Comer will be our guest.
BOARD MEMBERS ALERT ! Meeting Tuesday...that Tuesday...at 10:30 AM at
the West Side Grill. DG Comer will join us at 11:30 AM and then we will do lunch.
This will be in lieu of the usual schedule on club assembly day.

We will be talking more about the District Foundation dinner on November 8th
Plans are well underway for the 3rd Community Spelling BEE. We have big thanks to
Curtis Tractor Cab and Kevin Giblin for generous sponsor donations. We are hoping to
have more BEE teams this year to fill the space at Proctor School. BEE Chair, Mark
Lessner says suggestions are welcome.
Here’s to success. A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can
spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man. I’m still looking !
