Northborough Rotary’s 7/21 meeting was a day for fellowship. As Nancy Berglund once wrote and I’m paraphrasing here, “We did meet, we did greet, and boy was it sweet.”
Rotarian Cyndy Rondeau told a bear of a story about coming face to nostrils with a large black bear and her cub. As those who have spent some time in the woods know, when a cub is close and mother bear is lurking…extreme danger is ever-present. Cyndy and her family wisely stayed inside the cabin and after many heart-thumping minutes, mother bear and baby bear receded back into the wilderness.
Reverend Maybeck is recovering well from surgery, is going on vacation and will rejoin the club in September.
Pru Bean’s husband came through his surgery well and we wish a full recovery for all.
In Rotary club business, AppleFest fills our agenda and all pieces are falling into place. Sign-up sheets were passed around for various duties and we were all reminded that September the 15th is the day for our club members to step-it-up. Doris Walsh expressed some concern for the raffle baskets and various comments and ideas were expressed as to alleviate those concerns, such as asking Berbarian farms for a donation of goods. If any club members know or have a contact at the farm, please feel free to leverage that relationship.
In other club business, the Community Dinner at St. Rose will be held on September 26, 2007 and any member interested in helping is encouraged to do so. Lastly, the board of directors is asking that all members fill out the survey and include any questions or comments that a member feels needs to be addressed. The objective of the survey is not just to find out what members like and don’t like, but WHY they feel as such. This information will in turn help the membership committee and club leaders to better understand how to attract new members and retain existing club members.
