Visiting on this day were Ephraim Nachum, learning about more about Rotary after
experiencing the Pancake Breakfast. Kris Brunstetter was visiting again. She has
since been interviewed as a new member barring any hiccups and will be inducted.
Ralph Hammond, PDG, made an energetic pitch for the District Challenge...based on
the Pan Am bicycling event. This is a Fall/Spring fund raiser and ads will be sold
and I think sponsoring riders. Also I believe Ralph will be coming back on the first
of April as a speaker.
Our speaker on the 4th was Cameron Carey, President of Sustainable Energy Solutions.
This is a power management company doing remarkable work, noteably in Africa.
By using energy efficiently the costs can be reduced. The shift is to energy users not
suppliers. For detailed information check out www.sustainable-energy.us
Incidentally, Cam attended our Get Together. Another noteof interest is that the Carey’s
youngest son was a recipient a few years back of a Northboro Rotary scholarship.
March 18 the Council on Aging will be presenting up-dated info on the Sr. Center Bldg.
March 25th TBA
April l Ralph Hammond.
April 2nd in the Wednesday Community Supper...our turn. More info will follow
but mark your calendars. There is set-up, cooking, cookies, serving, and clean-up
and if you are lucky you get to eat.
Before we know it it will be the lst week-end in May and District Conference will be
again at the Boxborough Hotel. Skip and Pat Doyle are in charge of the House of
Friendship and our club will again have a Hospitality Suite. For our newer members
many clubs have Hospitality Suites all opening onto a courtyard. Food and beverages
are shared with the fellowship.
RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Award, (It took me two years to know what that meant
as it was always just RYLA.) Now you know. The deadline for applications from
interested sophmores is coming up. The week-end is June 20-22 and will be at
Worcester State College this year. Volunteers will be needed and you will be glad you
did after you have done it as, Mark Leahy says, it renews your faith in young people.
March 11...that is Rotary lunch day...and Adam Winter’s birthday.
The 14th is Cyndy Rondeau and the 24th is Pat Doyle.
Celebration - hear, hear. Skip Doyle is 9 years cancer free.
John Gillespie is at home. Coordinating food help is
Patty Murphy. strutonline@strutonline.com or 8874/6101
