Out house on ice...why didn’t we think of that ! Somebody in the Wachusett
Club did and their 48 members wiped up $8000 the first year. Four years
later you wouldn’t believe that one-holer has a GPS tracking system; solar
panel; knee high sensors to verify the actual time to the second that that shed
goes through the ice. Richard Traina and Pat Sarkisian brought raffle tickets for our
consideration. Interested parties from India to Atlanta are checking the web
site for up-dates on the effort as we speak. If you are wondering, the Sterling Fire
Department rescues the outhouse each year.
Our other guest, a temporary one, was Jim Brady. You know what I mean !
We are reminded about getting our dues in to Jean Bianchi. The dues have to be
paid to RI by a certain date...done. But now our club treasury needs to be reimbursed
so if your dues are still due....un-do it by giving a check to Jean.
PANCAKES are almost ready to be flipped ...two weeks plus a few days.
Adam double checked press contacts and raffle baskets. If that involves you, check in.
Addison gave us a pep talk on our placemat ads. We are only half way to our goal.
So check your contacts and keep selling. Our scholarships depend on this.
Adam Winter also checked that we were all receiving the Corridor 9 emails about their
on-going events.
At the 8 am Board Meeting it was voted to dispurse the BEE take to the Friends of the
Senior Center - $1000; Home Safety Network - $500 and $500 matching grant to
the food pantry.
MARCH is a month to visit another club...can be a make-up if you need, otherwise just
have fun and network and probably see familiar faces.
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 10 for the Antiques Auction with Stuart
Whitehurst again. More details to follow.
Also in April on the 14th on a Saturday morning is the District Assembly - Double Tree.
The GSE team from Egypt will be here for a month from April 23rd. Our club needs
three to four families to host team members for 3 or 4 nights. Check with Pat Doyle.
Think good thoughts and perhaps send a card to Prudence Bean. Her mother died.
Our speakers for Tuesday will be sharing info on navigating the health care system.
Nancy Stossi and Brett Salmonson..
Sister Theresita had her birthday on the 26th. Let’s sing.
I’m still enthralled with life in the 1500’s...Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled
high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm so all the
cats and other small animals (mice, bugs)lived in the roof . When it rained it became
slippery and sometime the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Hence the saying,
“It’s raining cats and dogs.” And today, farm animals live in more expensive houses than
we do !
