CLUB ASSEMBLY and the focus was on the Pancake Breakfast which is fast
approaching...March 2nd in case you have not been listening. Not much time
and not a “rich” time of year for area businesses, support not withstanding. But
give it your best shots for those ads. Again this year we will be setting up the
tables, etc. Friday evening prior to the Breakfast on Sunday. With many hands
this should not take long. Shortly after 6 pm giving the afterschool program time
to finish up. We set the tables, wrap napkins around “silverware”, etc.
Get your ads info ready to hand in on Tuesday for Gary. Raffle tickets, as well.
As Addison, our coach, advises...sell what you can and pay for the rest !
My apologies to Mr. Dowd...I don’t have a “coffee” hat...just have to let your
charm carry you through...be strong !
Paralleling this efforts is a looking ahead for RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership
Awards. Doris Walsh and Nancy Berglund met with the head of the
Guidance Department to assure that the information is disseminated to sophmores and
counselors to encourage sophmores to apply. The week-end, itself will be
June 2O - 21 - 22 and will be at Worcester State College.
This is also the time when seniorss are encouraged to consider applying for our
Scholarships...the amount depends on how many pancake ads are sold and
how many pancakes are skoffed.
And in the meantime...we will soon be hearing from Ken Golden about ...yes, about
the Applefest Parade ! And then...believe it or not a pre-lim, committee run-down
for the Spelling BEE in November is in the works.
Oh boy ! Andy Dowd is going to be busy. He has graciously agreed to field publicity
for our club with the additional support of Nancy Berglund and Michelle Gillespie, as
her time permits. Her son John’s colitis is not improving so surgery is needed again.
At the Board Meeting policy was established regarding leave of absence. Three months
acceptable as long as dues are paid up.
John Kreiss is back. David Antaya, potential new member dropped by. There was
some frivolity presented by Mrs. Berglund, sharing some her favorite quotes that
aren’t appropriate for this missive.
Don’t forget to pay your dues. You don’t want to make Jean Bianchi come after you !
