It’s that time again...news from inside the West Side with the Northboro Rotarians and
guests.   New to the area with Boston Business Advisors is Linda Abusamra who
has been seeking out Rotary and is looking us over.  Pleased to be a part of our
Emergency Oil Project with Northboro Oil Company was Sandra Maney Farrell
accepting a check for $2000 for our on-going account benefiting Northboro residents in
need.  This is the third year that the Spelling BEE has made this possible.

We shared a very moving presentation about a project in Haiti to donate 162 back packs
to children in Petit Goave.  Ambassadorial Scholar, Matylda Tomaszczyk and her
colleague,Dr. Cheryl McCallion showed slides about their aborted efforts to reach Petit
Goave with the back packs.  Evidentally the knowledge of the visit of two visitors from
America brought 1500 people...so their trip was diverted to another torn and the back
packs were distributed.  The slides showed the abject poverty along their route.  Guards
were on hand at  diesel fuel stations and the two young women were advised not to get
out of their car.  However,  thanks to the efforts of the Park School and the Haitian
Organization for the Advancement of Petit Goave, HOAP,  162 children in Haiti did
receive back packs
Guest speaker for Tuesday, January 30th is John DiPietro, news personality and author.

Michelle Gillespie’s son, John, is back in the hospital, poor little guy.

A food note.   If you don’t choose to eat at our fellowship luncheons you don’t get the
drinks for nothing.   Look for the sign with the $ at the drink table.

Mark Lessner and the BEE committee welcome your suggestions for dispursement of
the BEE money for the community.   Ed King wondered if there was a project, or effort
that was economic and involved our club.   What is outside the box?

February so quick !   The Georgeson’s have an anniversary on the 2nd and we can sing
to Skip Doyle on the 3rd...or not if they are still away.   Just think “happy”.

Pancake Breakfast ads.  They are expecting us.

I don’t know who Henry Steele Commager is (somebody google) but his comment makes
one think.   “Men in authority will always think that criticism of their policies is dangerous.
They will always equate their policies with patriotism and find criticism subversive. “
Hmmmmmmm.
