Happy New Year...2007 !  And what are we looking at ?    In 1955 some of the comments
heard in the land were:  “I’ll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it’s
going to be impossible to buy a week’s groceries for $20.”    Considering buying a new
model car?  In 1955 it was commented, “Have you seen the new cars coming out this year?  It won’t be long before $2000 will only buy a used one.”  !!!    And here is a timely
news area today and was in 1955 as well.  “If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody
will be able to hire outside help at the store.”     Imagine !   Have we come far or what !

Our first meeting of the year, 2007,  was almost full and fine, as usual.  We are good at
this fellowship stuff.  For the benefit of the new members (and any forgetful ones) we took
turns introducing ourselves and our classifications.   Which leads to a reminder to return
the information Adam Winter requested in order to up-date the member directory for our
web page.  Have you checked our web page recently?  NorthboroughRotary.org.  You
will probably find your picture there somewhere.

PANCAKE BREAFAST.  Adam Winter and co-chair, Gary Cooper are already running
with the plans.  Fliers and Placemat printings are in order.  The assignment packets will be
given to us soon.   Alistair Wheeler is heading up Corporation requests and we are
reminded that yes, we are doing baskets again.  The Doyle’s barn can be a collection site
and we all can start the collecting.   Don’t be shy about “re-gifting” some of your
duplicate or good- but- not- needed (or wanted) recent gifts.   Have a theme basket in
mind and pick up your basket ingredients as you shop.   Also save some of the boxes you
may have plus baskets, baskets, baskets.  Check with Cheryl Owoc and Doris Walsh.
March 11th is not that far away.

Tuesday our speaker will be Kevin Sullivan on Gift of Life.   On the following Tuesday,
January 16th will be Club Assembly.  THE BOARD MEETING WILL BE THAT
MORNING AT 8 AM AT THE POLICE STATION...that’s the 16th.

And what have we learned as we enter another year?   Hopefully it is that whenever we
decide something with kindness, we usually make the right decision.   And hopefully as
the years keep going by we learn that we still have a lot to learn.  Eh ?
